Dr. Marc Okun

Dr. Okun is President of The Heart Center of Northern Anne Arundel County, P.A. He co-founded The Heart Center with Dr. Kevin Doyle upon completion of his Cardiology fellowship in 1986. Dr. Okun is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine. He specializes in consultative and preventive cardiology.

Dr. Okun holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine/Division of Cardiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Dr. Okun was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He currently resides in Baltimore County. He is married and has one daughter.


Dr. David Aiello

Dr. Aiello joined The Heart Center in 1995 after completing his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Aiello is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine. He specializes in general and consultative cardiology.

Dr. Aiello holds a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. He is the medical director of the Department of Echocardiography at The Heart Center.

Dr. Aiello was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He currently resides in Severna Park. He is married and has two children.


Dr. Sam Yoon

Dr. Yoon joined The Heart Center in 2002 after completing his General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Yoon was named a “Top Doc” in Cardiology by What’s Up! Magazine in Annapolis, MD.

Dr. Yoon was born and raised in the Baltimore area, and currently resides in Howard County with his wife and three children.


Dr. Jay Penafiel

Dr. Penafiel joined The Heart Center in 2002 after completing his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology. Under his direction, The Heart Center’s Nuclear Cardiology program achieved accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL). He is presently the medical director of the practice's nuclear cardiology program.

A Baltimore County native who now resides in Crownsville with his wife, two daughters, and one son, Dr. Penafiel's interests include biking. His community involvement includes serving on the board of directors for Katipunan, the Filipino-American Association of Maryland.


Dr. Andrew Zohlman

Dr. Zohlman joined The Heart Center in 2012 after completing his Cardiovascular fellowship at Boston Medical Center and his Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and board certified in Cardiac Electrophysiology.

He specializes in cardiac arrhythmia management, including implantation and follow up care of permanent pacemakers, ICDs and biventricular ICDs as well as catheter ablation of arrhythmias.

Dr. Zohlman holds a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine.


Karen J. Daniels, MS, CRNP

Karen J. Daniels joined The Heart Center in 2014. She earned a baccalaureate degree in nursing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in 1989. She was employed at The Johns Hopkins Hospital for nineteen years as a Registered Nurse in the areas of telemetry, coronary care, surgical intensive care and home care.

She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 2007. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the Preventative Cardiovascular Nurses Association and the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland.


Ms. Daniels was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and resides in Miller’s Island with her husband, Labrador retriever and several cats.


Christina K. Martin, MS, CRNP

Christina Martin joined The Heart Center in 2023. She Board-Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master’s Degree from Vanderbilt University in 2004 where she completed her preceptorship in the Cardiac Transplant Division. She worked as a Registered Nurse Practitioner in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at John Hopkins for two years before starting her career as a Nurse Practitioner. She has worked as an Inpatient Cardiology Nurse Practitioner for over 15 years.

Ms. Martin lives in Severna Park, Maryland with her husband and 3 children ages 12, 11, and 7. She loves playing golf, cooking, long family dinners and now skiing with her family.


LIDIA DAVILA, CRNP

Lidia Davila joined The Heart Center in 2023. She earned an accelerated second degree bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University in 2010. She worked for two years as a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical Unit and four years as a Registered Nurse in a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. She received her Master's Degree from Georgetown University in 2015. She is a Board-Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and she was employed at Medstar Washington Hospital Center for seven years as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in Cardiac Surgery.

She lives in Annapolis, Maryland with her husband and chocolate Labrador retriever. A baby boy will be arriving in the summer of 2024.
